Botox Treatment

You may be a candidate for Botox® if you would like to treat facial wrinkles in the forehead, between the eyes and in the “crow’s feet” areas. Botox® works by weakening the muscles that cause facial expressions. Once the treated muscles are weakened, the pull of the muscle relaxes and the overlaying skin flattens. Botox® is utilized to enhance your appearance, and lessen the wrinkles in the upper part of your face.

Botox® is freshly prepared on the day of injection. Once prepared the medication needs to be used within 12 hours as the potency diminishes with time. Small amounts of Botox® are injected into the facial muscles using a very tiny needle. Length of Surgery

30 -45 minutes with care

GNo anesthesia is required. This is a quick and pain free procedure.

What to expect immediately after the operation

There may be minimal bruising and swelling for a short period of time after the treatment. Otherwise, recovery is immediate.

Recovery

  • Patients will not require any time off work, however we would advise against exercise or strenuous activity within 48 – 72 hours of the procedure. If necessary, the patient may need to revisit for a top-up after 7-10 days.

Possible Complications

  • Incomplete paresis of the muscle, resulting in the patient needing to ‘top-up ‘ to balance the muscle inactivity.
